Default Expert please read ...Is this LS1 worth $5000

LS-1 that has forged weisco pistons (3.905 bore), stock rods, ARP rod bolts, stock crank, rotating assembly is fully balanced. It has clevite 77 rod bearings and federal mogul main bearings, a MTI custom oil pump (ported for more pressure and volume). The valve train consists of a Thunder Racing 224/224 @.050 duration, .560 lift on a 114 LSA cam, 7.400 chrome moly pushrods and stock roller rockers. The heads are MTI stage 2 with 2.055/1.600 stainless steel ferrea valves, bigger seats, bronze guides, custom titanium retainers and Isky dual springs. Heads flow 297/215 @.600 lift. The intake is an LS-6 manifold with fuel rails and injectors. This motor includes oil pan, valve covers, valley cover, knock sensors and harness, cam and crank sensors, MTI underdrive pully, throttle body, alternator and bracket, A/C bracket, water pump, coil packs, temp sensor, new NGK spark plugs and exhaust manifolds. This is a NEW motor that has never been run,(over 7500.00 invested) only high quality parts were used in this engine and it should produce arount 475 reliable HP at the flywheel

are you getting trans with it?
i paid 3200 for ls1 with auto trans, all wiring and belt driven accessories then i dropped 2000 on slp headers, cats, y-pipe, and loudmouth exhaust, the fuel injectors for an ls6 from pontiac run $91 each so if engine has what you want then it is worth it, cause mods are expensive

Um yeah I would definetly give him 5 grand for it. Considering that you can buy unmodded, unused ls1's from places like ls1speed.com for around 5 large as well. Pretty much (ballpark estimate) your forged pistons are gonna run you anywhere from 700 on up. Your stage 2 heads being MTI are probably over 2 grand. The LS6 intake if you have a 00 or under, if not then you wouldn't need it, but that will run you 500. In other words the mods alone are worth around 5 if not higher, plus you get an engine to boot. So if you have 5 g's to drop on it I say go ahead.

I was just about to tell you to check on that. For the heads, to see if theyre ported. Look around the net for pics of heads that are ported. Look at a pic of the exhaus port, and look at a pic of a stock untouched head. That should give you and idea of what to look for. Then when you get to look at the motor, ask to take off the exhaust manifolds, and compare. As for the pistons. I dont know what to tell you on thoes. Good luck

the seller should have receipts from MTI, TR, and the engine builder in his name. You can then call the engine builder and verify.

MTI may stamp or mark their heads. Call them and ask.
