Default 427 equivalent of 224/228/114?

Assume you wanted the exact same idle and powerband characteristics that a 224/228/114 gives on a 346, but for use on a 427. What would you run?

someone like patrick g or pred would be the ones that know more than most of us on here but just on a guess i'd say something around 12-14 * bigger should be pretty similar so i'd say a 236/240 or a 238/242 or so.

i will not take a shot at your question-but
if your using ls7 style heads and not ls1/6 heads
note that the flow characteristics are different.
the ls7 heads require a larger split (more exhaust duration) between intake and exhaust

Ok, I have no frickin' idea, but I have to believe this isn't the right formula, because if you used this math and kept going up at aroun 800ci, you'd have a 360* lobe, hmm don't think that works.

I think whatever the math it has to effect base circle as well. Well at least at some point as you go up on ci.

Of course I have no idea, so I'm just throwin that out there.

13-15 degrees bigger will get you there, but remember, the LSA will depend on the heads you run. Small valves and ports will favor a cam with more overlap and will respond with a narrower LSA. Higher compression will favor a wider LSA. Longer stroke will favor a wider LSA, but it's trumped by the cylinder head so choose accordingly.

I agree. I remember when I suggested a 110 over something like a 112 lsa for an LS1, and was asked why. I stated the decision was based on valve size and a couple mods on here gave me a WTF. Maybe they will believe it now.
