Default cracked block need advice (pic inside)

Long story short im at school i go to start my car and i hear the starter engage and and the bendix just free wheeling w/ a slight grinding noise. Push start the car get it home, Friday night try and start car for the hell of it and hear something fall it was a starter bolt, jack it up see the starter housing cracked , get a new starter go to put it in today and find the chunk missing from outside starter bolt hole.

what should i do
-Get it welded and re-tapped if possible
-New block tranfer parts over
-complete new short block
-Used short or long block

Keep in mind car does have 105k so i want it overhauled if the motors comin out

How much does a basic shortblock rebuild cost roughly?

Weld it...TIG weld it. Have someone who knows how. That you can do this is one of the best things about an aluminum block.

If you don't know anyone you can trust, go , don't call, to the biggest independent welding supply in your area & start talking to the counter guys. Find out who they think is the best guy for the job. They'll know & the chances are real good you'll find one of the guys you're talking to is into cars.

Either TIG weld or rebuild with a new block. You can get a used block on here for a few hundred $$. I would suggest a forged shortblock though if you are going to pull it out anyway.

I did a build for

Block/crank 350
Pistons Diamond Dometop n2o 650 (NIB/custom ordered, but I got them second-hand)
Rods Eagles on ebay for 450
Bearings + machining + balancing the assembly 700

total for shortblock $2150
TSP forged 347 with similar parts= 3350 ballpark.

I say if you're going to keep with a 346/7 then you should get the work done by a local shop who has a torque plate and has experience with the LSx series of motors. And save yourself some cha ching in the meantime.
