Ok... well I'm shopping for a truck and I like knowing what I could do to it later down the road.
It's high miles 2000 4.8
From the looks of it, an ls1 motor would be a direct replacement... ? I could reuse ALL of my 4.8l stuff ??

a LS1 shortblock will sit right under all the truck stuff and you'll never know it... unless you look down and see an aluminum block hiding out. go to performancetrucks.net (LS1Tech's sister site) and search for a guy by the name of TXsilverado or beastmode, they're two of LS1 swapped trucks there, there's plenty more, but they have pulled it off nicely.
