Cam upgrade or LS6 intake?
I have a '00 Camaro M6 with an S2 TB, lid, mac headers, h pipe, and a hotcam. Anyways, with the hotcam I dynoed 380rwhp. At this point I am trying to decide which would be best to do next. I was thinking of either upgrading to a bigger cam like the M2, G5X-2, MMS 229, MMS 233, or F1...OR possibly just putting on an LS6 intake. Right now I have enough money to either do a cam or the LS6 intake---not both at the moment. Which would I see the most gains out of?

James,
I would do the LS6 intake you may be happy with the present cam after the Intake swap... I've seen first hand gains of 10-15 hp with a LS6 intake, since you already have a cam swap.
Just my .02cents

Re: Cam upgrade or LS6 intake?
Well, I haven't done any tuning yet on my car...but the A/F ratio was right about 13.0 or 12.95. I figured there is no need for tuning...? Wouldn't a big cam like the M2 net me more horsepower than the LS6 intake? The hotcam is a tiny .525/.525 lift cam with only 218 intake duration.

Re: Cam upgrade or LS6 intake?
My thought is that while you will more than likely see a bigger jump in power by going to a bigger cam as opposed to doing the LS6 intake, you will be leaving power on the table with whatever you do until that intake is on there.
You're at 380 RWHP right now, and let's say that you install a beefier cam (along with the necessary valve springs) and end up with ~400 RWHP. Great!! Except that we have all seen cars with beefy cams (like the G5X2, which, out of the cams you have listed, I am the most familiar with) belt out 10-20 RWHP more than you may make by doing the same cam on an LS1 intake... with the only difference being that these cars have the LS6 intake.
That being said, it depends on your plans for the car; are you planning on doing both intake and a bigger cam anyway?? With the only question being which one to do first?? Or is it either intake -OR- a bigger cam, and that's it?? If you're planning to do both anyhow, I'd say do the LS6 intake now, and allow your current/future mods to live up to their potential. However, if it's just one or the other, I'd say to do the cam.

Re: Cam upgrade or LS6 intake?
Have LS6 intakes been known to change A/F ratios at all? Right now, without tuning, I am sitting at 13.0 A/F...I don't want to add the intake and screw up the A/F ratio and wind up not gaining anything.

I would do the cam for sure! Call Allan Futral (link below in my sig or over to the right on the sponsor grid). He will recommend something that will rock with your current and future plans.
