Default Lets see bearing clearance specs & oil pressure!

Just wondering if anyone knows what their engine bearings clearance specs are and what kind of oil pressure they see at idle cold and hot and full throttle. I have a new boost engine that is showing different pressures than my stock bottom end setup.

I'm part of the way to building a stroker engine. I know my clearances are right at .0025" for the rods and mains, but I don't know my oil pressure yet as I've not assembled the engine yet.

What are your new bearing clearances and oil pressures?

Im going to find out my specs tomorrow, but my pressures hot are 25-30 idle and 45-50psi at full throttle. Its a loose turbo motor.

Okay the main bearing specs are from .0024-.003. Is that loose enough for my oil pressure being 25-30 hot idle, and 45-50psi full throttle.

are you using the stock gauge or a secondary gauge?
i have the loosest ls1 ever built and with the stock oil pump i had more that that.
if you are going by the stock gauge try using a regular gauge tapped into the system.
if you are running a big cooler or are feeding your blower/turbo use a HV/HP oil pump.

Your oil pressure is OK, the main bearing clearance is a bit big in my opinion. We build them with tigher main clearance. The LS1 motors being aluminum grow quite a bit and can be built with .0015 to .002 main clearance. This would bring your oil pressure up some. But having said that as long as you have 45 to 50 psi at W.O.T. you should be fine.

Having 25 to 30 hot at idle, is good I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I'm at .0017-8 on the mains and .0022 on the rods. Warm oil pressure is 47 idle and around 70psi at redline. During normal driving it's in the 55 to 60psi range. Thats with new cam bearings, Mobil 0W40 and a ported ls6 oil pump with a shim on the spring.
