rockers hitting retainers
i just got done putting my car back together and started it up but there was a ticking through out. i yanked off the valve covers to find the rocker arm hitting the edge of the retainer. is there any solution to this other than new rockers? if so which are the better ones?

Re: rockers hitting retainers
This is covered on my site about half way down this page

BTW, there are retainers you can get that will clear the stock rockers. I didnt know anybody still used the ones where you'd have to cut into your rocker arms. Where'd you get them from?

Re: rockers hitting retainers
the heads that i bought were going to go on a solid roller motor but can also be used on a reguler hydrolic also. and they had these on them. i just emailed you jmx so i guess you can disregard it. but is there any strength taken away from the rockers with drilling them?

Yes, I'd imagine the rockers will flex a little more at high rpms, especially if you have stiffer springs. However, I ran mine modified like that for over a year with double springs and they held up just fine. The yella terra rockers might clear, or you could just go ahead and get some adjustible shaft rockers if you were planning on doing a solid roller down the line anyway.
