Default Help! Which Springs for my Cam??

Looking towards a 234/242 on a 110 LSA with XE-R Lobes. .598/.610. Basically, a G5X3 on a 110 LSA and 106 ICL. Which springs would be best for this application. I don't want to change springs constantly because this would be on a daily driver and don't really want the double springs because I would like to limit valvetrain weight.

Thanx
-James

I would only run doubles
I like comp 921, maybe change them every 20 thou miles.
I will take a little noise over a dropped valve

crane #144832-16 or #144833-16 depending on what seat pressure you want.

valvetrain weight? Like the actually phisical weight of the springs? When theres alot of tension pushing down, theres always another pushing back up so its ballanced. I have doubles, i dont know why anyone wouldnt with over a 600 lift

Not really. The valve spring itself, or at least about the top half of it is a large part of the mass to be controlled. Of course that takes more spring force so usually you have to go to a stronger spring, which is more massive, etc. That is one of the big advantages of a less massive spring like a beehive.

There are beehives that do just fine with lifts just over .600, and they are single springs.

James (02Transam), ask your cam designer for a recommendtion. My cam guy doesn't post here or you could ask him.

I would definately go with a dual valve spring if it was me. I have heard good things about the comp 921s and the cranes. I personally would probably go with comp though.

PRC also makes a great double spring thats rated to ".660 lift. i have them on my LS6 with a MS4 which uses the XE-R lobes and theres noise but they are very reliable springs. Especially good for the money

Nice. Please tell us how they turn out. I haven't really heard too many people using those, although I did notice they were one of the options with a cam package I was looking into on some site. Don't remember which one it was though.

I was leaning towards the PRC kit from Texas-Speed, but it seems like overkill. How long will all of these springs last me?

I have the PRC's on my D/D.
I have had mine on for two years with no problems.

Aren't springs supposed to be replaced every 20k or so? Atleast that is what I have been reading on here most of the time...
