Default Comp 915s vs 918s

I've heard that the spring pressure on 918s is a little too much on a stock cam. But the 915s are supposed be be ok. 105 vs 130lb. I'm wondering because I have many projects right now, and i've got a couple springs that are down on the T/A, and I don't have time to do a cam right now, but it will be put in in a few months.

I have a friend that did the 915s before his cam, and he is wondering if it is a limit over the 918s now on how big he can go.

any input?

Definitely go with the 918s, not too much for a stock cam, and good for many aftermarket grinds too

If you do not plan any cam change, ie stay stock, then just get a set of LS2 springs (otherwise known as LS6 springs 02+)
They are much cheaper and will do the job fine.

Looks like you may have a plan for a cam...Depending on what your cam is may help determine what your springs should be.

I did my spring swap before the camswap, and ran shimmed 918's on the stock cam for 5k+ miles.

Well 918s arn't really an option right now since Comp has stopped selling them due to failures.

But you can get the old/good 918s and 915s from PAC. New part # is PAC-1218 and 1215.

Yeah, Comp Cam dropping PAC was about 1 of the dumbest move they could make. At least from a quality point.

I am running shimmed PAC 1518 springs now. Great spring. I replaced my 918's with them when with the camswap.
