Default Valvetrain noise..

What do you guys think the most likely cause of valvtrain noise would be? Its more of a hollow clattering sound. Mostly heard at idle, and about 2100. The car will rip 6000+ without any trouble, but the noise sounds like crap and it driving me crazy. I thought about some aftermarket roller rockers and check the pushrods while I was there. I dont have the ambition to dig lifter deep at this point. Any ideas?...Im always waiting for something to fly apart.

Mine and my buddys makes that same sound. Kinda like it's coming from the intake. From what I hear it's because of the harsh lobes on the cam slamming them open and dropping them shut.

Same here. Lifters replaced at 25,000 miles under warranty, didn't help.
Mine sounds loud under the car but sounds like it's coming from under the intake.
Sounds like total ****.
I've run it hard at the track since, now it has almost 39,000 on it, the noise never got worse.
It's definetly a valvetrain noise.

Mine did the same till I switched out the rockers. I also drilled out the lifter holders for better oil return. Dont know which of the two corrected it but it got quiet.

Its both sides kind of...and its definately the top end "light clatter" not a deep knock. I guess I'll just let it be noisey

Most valvetrain noise on a healthy motor is attributed to too short a pushrod. (ie: too light a preload)

Two things tobe done on a motor especialy if heads have been added.
1- Check your geometry > Wipe pattern on valve tip is well centered
2- Check preload to be within lifter manufacturer margins

I have a clacking type sound and assumed it was valve train related. I did some scope listening and could not locate the noise in either valve cover. Actually the injectors produced more noise than I heard from the valve covers. At this point, I am guessing it is the PS pump and I am living with it.

I just used a scope and on each valvecover I just hear comotion, no clatter to speak of. When put to the runners on either side of the intake manifold it is much more audible clatter?...What would I be hearing on the intake?..

Was this problem common or even found on stock engines with no internal mods?

+1 .. I want to know..because it sure as hell sounds like just a little too much slack..and at certain loads it becomes noisey. More importantly do I need to be concerned with any kind of catastrophic failure because of it...or will it just sound like crap?..Do aftermarket rocker arms have adjustable pushrod cups?..

I'd like to do aftermarket arms if it would maybe fix the problem. But if not, I'll just wait.
