Probably not screwed because you (and the car) acted quickly. When the computer senses that condition it enters into protection mode retarding performance and altering firing order to prevent damage.

did you fix the problem? and the ECU probably made you run rich to keep combustion temps down (since leaner = hotter). a backfire out the exhaust means rich misfire.

if you fixed the problem. id disconnect your battery and let the computer reset so it can relearn its fuel trim

Try SDPC, but since you're in Iceland, is there a GM dealer nearby that can help, see if the part number interchanges with a model you have there

I recently had a smilar problem with my TA. I was racing a hemi charger when my belt came off (unknown to me at the time). Apparently, the aftermarket TurnOne PS pulley I have walked itself off the pump shaft somewhat and made for misalignment of the pulleys that threw the belt.

By the time I got home, the car stalled pulling into garage and I restarted. That is when I noticed my Autometer temp gage was VERY high. I parked, opened the hood, and placed a large fan blowing onto my engine until it cooled. It threw a code for 'excessive metal temp' I erased the code and the car has been fine since then. Power and engine performanceare as usual so the high temp excursion apparently didn't hurt anything.

I ended up pressing the PS pulley back on and installing a bolt/washer into the shaft with loctite to keep the pulley from walking off in the future - alltough I still don't know why it did it in the 1st place?

I personally like the Billet Tensioners such as the Katech or TR version. I have one and have never had a problem throwing belts even though I regularly take er up to 7000 rpm and shift at 6500.

i got a little scared because i am just test driving my new motor, i was on a traffic loigth when i started to notice som sounds from the engine that i didn like, and then the check gauges ligth came on, a saw a parking lot and just had to get there. then the car just died,

when i stoped and opened the hood i saw the v-belt in pieces, and the idler pulley is not where it should be, the pulley its self sits much fronter than the steering pump and uhh need correct word.. lean forwards and is bent.makes the vbelt go off (hope someone understands this) so i think the bracket it self has to be bent or something,

the local GM dealer here is crap.. so i would like to import it myself, like everthing iðve bougth in this car,
i will try sdpc,

thanks alot everybody!
