Question Help me match stall to cam please

225/229 .580"/.590" 114 LSA and patriot stage 2 59cc heads is what im leaning towards on my 99 a4 corvette.

Any brands to stay away from? Fuddle has a great price anyone use them?

Also if my car only sees the track once a year will i need a stall with that cam if its tuned by a pro?

Thanks alot

I've been running a Fuddle 3400 2.1 TC for 3 years problem free with a camshaft with slighty more duration and valve lift than the one you're talking about. I've not been on this site for awhile so I do not know the current situation with Fuddle.

Tuned by a pro, you can live without a verter, but to benefit from new found powerband at least a 3000 stall.
Don't only look at price, sometimes it is better to buy the best and a lot cheaper too.
If it were me VIG 3200 or SS3600 Yank

Is it a real 50/50 chance/crapshoot when dealing with TCI or fuddle? Why?

Vigilante or Yank. Period.

3,000 absolute minimum. Mid 3,000s better.

i would say nothing less than a 3200. i have a yank ss3600 in mine and i wish i would have gone with the 4000. dont get me wrong the 3600 is amazing when i hit the gas but when driving normal you cant even tell that the car has a stall. and make sure you get it tuned

I've always heard good things about Yank. Mid 3000s would do well for that cam IMO.

Sure, you can run it on the stock converter.

But you don't want to. Trust us.

We've been there, done that, and read about everybody who took the "cam before finishing bolt ons" route and were not happy with it.

Get the converter before the cam!

What time did you call Yank? Did you try again? Leave a message?

And headers too.

I went through the exact same thing. I was talked out of getting the cam first by LS1tech members. I almost didn't listen, but they were right and I am glad I did what they suggested.

I asked a fuddle rep why everyone I know has had massive failure from their converters and he said it was their cars computers faults? something about a valve that chatters or shutters the clutches into engagement being worn causes it to disengage and engange over and over burning them up... not sure, my friends brand new fuddle died in less than a month. I bought a yank.

Way back when Fuddle cam around so many people were so convinced they were a great, inexpensive alternative to Yank and Vig that was every bit as good, if not better. I cautioned that they hadn't been around long enough and feared Fuddle may end up being a repeat of TCI and Midwest. Those who didn't listen and bought their ~$400 Fuddle probably think differently now.

Get a Yank or a Vig for your LS1. PERIOD. End of discussion.

BTW: I got bit from choosing TCI as the inexpensive alternative to Yank/Vig. I am sure, since history repeats itself and people are always looking to save a buck, another manufacturer will come and go from the LS1 market just like Midwest, TCI and Fuddle.

What are your goals? Why are you buying the cam? What do you expect/hope to gain?
