Default Lifter recommendation needed.

Well the cam which I have in my signature is great and all. However, my nearly 100k mile stock ls1 lifters are starting to clack and tick pretty bad at the moment when the engine gets up to operating temperature. I was thinking about going the way of the LS7 lifters, as I am shortly swapping to some PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads. However will they be sufficient for that cam? Or should I just go straight to an aftermarket lifter such as comp cams units? I figured I could save a few bucks with the LS7s, but I really don't feel like pulling the heads again just because I wanted to be cheap if the lifters fail me.

Excuse me for my ignorance, but what are caddy race lifters? A gm or aftermarket piece? And what would I ask for if they were a gm part at the dealership?

Thanks guys. Guess I will have to think which is going to be the better choice for me. The caddy lifters sounds good, but I am only spinning the car to 6700rpm. But I figure they are likely a better unit.

I would say the LS7 style because they are a good bargain and should handle your rpms no problem. But I am having a problem with one (or more) of mine not wanting to stay pumped up until the motor is fully warmed up.

I vote LS7 lifters...

Had a set of Comps come apart on me...luckily they didn't take the entire motor with them.

So far, so good with the LS7s...

LS7 lifters if you're running no higher than 6700, they'll handle that all day long. Don't spend a grip on anything else. Don't get the comp R's, they're crap to get adjusted.

Thanks again guys. After a few days of debate I am definitely going with the LS7's. The only reason being is that it is not a super hardcore drag car, and more of a weekend warrior dragstrip beast and does see a little bit of daily driver usage during the week. I think I should be fine.

My buddy has had the sewing machine sound or ticking since he done his cam swap so everybody was telling him that the new caddy lifters would make it quiet as stock, well he spent 200 bucks or whatever they cost and had them installed and the sound is the exact same, no differant at all. I would not spend the money on the caddy lifters because with my buddy it didn't do anything but cost him money.
