LS6 intke manifold on LS1??
How much of a chore is it to swap an ls1 manifold with an ls6 manifold? is the power gain worth the 500 dollars invested and install time? any help would be great. Thanks everyone!

It is an easy swap.
The LS6 manifold is deeper, it comes much closer to the top of the engine, therefore your coolant lines that run under the intake will no longer fit when you put on the LS6 intake. There are coolant pipe kits. What I done is plugged the rear coolant holes up in the heads and run the cross over pipe at the front of the heads.
As I say you can buy LS6 coolant pipes, just add this to your cost of the manifold. If you are going to spend that much on an intake why not spend a little more and go for F.A.S.T LSX intake? Remember if you go for the Fast 90 you will need an new TB.
Anyway intake swaps don't take long, I've had mine off a few times now. Just be careful of the oil pressure sender unit between the intake and the vaccuum pipe at the back of the engine.

I've got everything I need for the swap now except for the coolant pipe and plug. I'd say for sure to save some cash and do the swap yourself. Check out LS1howto.com for a great writeup.

I used my stock coolant pipe, what i did was use a dremel to grind the bottom of the intake ribs/ridges that were interfering with the pipes.

+2 on leaving the coolant pipes alone.Just grind out a channel thru the ridges so you won't have any cooling probs. You may not notice much of a change untill you start to mod up, but then you'll be glad that you got it! It helped me out a lot, like 35 hp after complementing mods of course. Yea don't buy a new one for $500. There are too many guys getting rid of their's for Fast intakes. I sold one of the EGR equipped ones for $325, alot less than $550! Shop around for a cheap used one. Oh, they ain't hard to put on at all,45min topps.

I assume the stock t-body would work but it would be the restriction now instead of the intake but it should be fine till you can get a bigger one. As for the EGR, juts get it tuned out at the dyno shop.
