Default 98 ls1 rebuild

ok new to ls1 thread and building this engine but curious what bolts you guys recomm on replacing when you build a 475 rwhp engine? i know rods and heads should be done (arp) any others you recomm beside balancer?

i am also wondering what pistons to run, i know i need more info for you guys but the block and heads are at the shop. they recomm for street just use hyperteic pistons. this engine is not going to see the bottle or anyhing else in the next 5 yrs.
i can tell you what i know so far about the engine, 98 ls1 with mti stage 2 heads,ls6 intake, ported throttle body, trick flow push rods 7.400 .080 and cam (calling to find size out). everything else appers stock. i bought this off horsepowerjunkies and heard motor run but car came from tx's and guy who sold engine didn't know full details since was second owner.

so i am looking into finding a desent piston, oil pump, double timing chain, thermostat, injector, fuel rails, etc with your help. so can anyone give me some insight on what you would recomm????? this is going in my 72 chevelle and yes i have the ctsv oil pan from gm due to i get a discount from a dealer.

thanks guys/gals

First off, get a different block.

I blew my '98 and this is what I did.

2001 LS1 Block
ARP Main Studs
ARP Head Studs
ARP 2000 Rod Bolts
Clevite 77 H series Bearings
Eagle H Beam rods
Stock Crank, Cut
Ross Racing -4cc flat top pistons

go forged pistons! diamond makes great pistons! u can get a shelf piston with a 3.905 bore which u will safe with a 98 block.

Whats wrong with the 98 block..? I'm looking to re-do my 98 Z this winter just because its at 170K now and been sprayed (125 Dry) and beat to hell (but still runs great ) and intend to probably use the stock block with a procharger. I would go with a forged piston and forged H beam rods and good bearings, that way if you decide you want more out of it later on your motor is built for more.

The 98 blocks had some trouble with oiling. I'm rebuilding mine. Not too concerned. Just make sure it's done right. It'll be ok.
