BWAHAHAHHHHAHA!!!!! 25rwhp gain if you want to pay the 1000+ dollars for parts and labor go ahead but there are much better ways to spend 1k then for 25rwhp its a stock LS6 cam if you want to get a cam GET A REAL CAM not something thats slightly bigger than what you have

^first, the Hotcam is not a stock LS6 cam
and B,... you pay for labor?... whats the fun in that?
blackz, if you can get a hotcam kit at a cheap price and do the labor yourself, its not that bad of an upgrade. it'll sound good and make the car pull way better than with the stock cam (you're going to need a dyno tune for the car).
i used a hotcam for almost 3 years and liked it pretty good, but you will want to upgrade eventually.

last I checked the hot cam kit included the LS6 cam, springs retainers etc. etc. and if someone is questioning about a hotcam they have obviously never changed a cam before and if you have never done it by all means try it but make sure you have someone there who has done it before or have very detailed instructions with some pics to go along I love doing my own work to my car unless it has to do with pulling my trans done it too many times and I hate doing it

390+ RWHP and 389 RW ft/lbs. Thats with a hotcam, stock 243 heads, bolt ons and tuned. I don't think its a bad upgrade at all. Everyone has their opinion. Think about what you want. Daily driver or week end warrior. Mine is a daily commuter, 70 miles one way to work. I love my set up. As far as install. It can be done by average shadetree mechanic. My old roommate did his. He did a great job too. He got about the same output with his hotcam. We had the same set up.

I jsut bought a new regrind of the hotcam for 125 shipped, I already have the LS6 springs on the car. So counting fluids, etc 200 bucks for another 30/30 to the ground is worth it to me. As long as you ahve the supporting mods, why not. I am getting a 408 built right now for my 80 frontmount turbo, so I think that will make enough power for me. This will me my nice DD. If I get bored, nothing like adding an extra 150hp for 500 bucks with a puch of a button

also, here are some completely badass instructions on doing a cam swap for f-bodies... i used this guy's instructions for my heads/cam install, i took my time and it worked out really well.

btw, i didn't mean anything about the paying for labor crack, i just know how most shops take advantage of someone looking to have aftermarket parts installed... also, doing the labor yourself keep money freed up for more mods

I have the hotcam and got it for 200 shipped. ls6 springs are 60 for a set. my powerband starts at idle and really picks up around 2300rpms and hauls *** to redline, around 6400rpms. I think its a great cam for a dd:great chop, good drivability, no need to check and change springs and makes great under the curve power all for about 300 bucks. don't pay 600 bucks for the kit from gm, because there are better cams in that price range, but overall its a great cam and fwiw a local hit 10.8 with a hotcam full bolt ons and a 150 shot

A lot of people on here really badmouth the hot cam, ive had a ls1 with the hot cam and really liked it. it seemed to make power throught the entire powerband but probally will not make the peak dyno numbers as other cams. but was great in my dd
