Default Cometic Head Gaskets .040

OK this is gonna sound really dumb and something i should have caught or aleast noticed . I just did heads and cam in my car is a 2002 camaro . I bought tsp ls6 stg 2.5 heads and torquer v3 cam. After everthing was installed the valves where hitting the pistons just ever so slightly. I had everything checked front to back at a autoshop the couldnt find anything wrong with what i did . However today i was wwrapping some part up for jason to send back ( the head gaskets) and i noticed something weird . The head gaskets only had two pieces ? So i went to there web sight and sure enough it is missing the middle piece. I didnt measure the remaining two piecs < but my question is with that piece missing . The middle one cause my valves to hit the heads? And who fault is this . I mean i pulled them outta of the package that way and never thought twice just assumed they would be right? I now owe alitte over 900 to the pdr the place that put it back together. Should i call cosmetic or talk to jason about this? That wasnt may fault ? Oh i just put the >052 back on the car. Runs great!

if you were slightly tagging the pistons (even if the gaskets were missing a piece) just going to a .052" gasket won't give you the .080" or so you need to have for proper clearance.if you ever have even slight valve float may result in bent valves. good luck.

^^ What slow trap said.

If that middle part is all that it takes to tap the valve then you have other issues.

Default ouch

PTV ouch. I used .040 cometic gaskets on my dart heads and voodoo cam; no problems, but ya there is 3 layers. Did you change anything else like pushrod length or lifters?
