big stroke gets you good torque, but can't handle high rpm. Race engines will keep the stroke short, RPM high... street motors or towing motors will love a long stroke combo.
Just depends on how many cubes you want out of your engine combo. If you can make the cubes with bore and keep the 4.000 stroke, that's the way I would go.

I suppose you need to clearance the block for that big crank...
for street use, i would prefer the low torque...

The price of the stroker cranks will fall soon. Remember the LS1 is still a new engine, we dont even have an aftermarket oil pump yet. With in hte next couple of years the prices are gona fall alot because people are finding more ways to get better numbers, without resorting to more cubes.
