Default car is overheating???????????????????????

What's up everyone I'm having a huger problem out of my 99 z28 and hoping someone can help me out. My problem is that I cant even go cruising in the damn thing without it overheating. The temp is starting to go up into the range where I have to pull over and let the car cool down. I have a new thermo, radiator, and a new water pump. What else can I change to be able to drive my car again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does it overheat just when you are at cruising speeds or is it overheating at idle also? When did the problem start? Is anything even remotely close to blocking your radiator?

what's your coolant look like? low? gunked up?

got any aftermarket heads?... the reason I ask is i saw from another thread a guy had aftermarket heads where the coolant passages were sooooo small that it made his overheat as well...

it usually only overheats while driving. nothing that i can see is blocking my radiator, and I have stock heads. i,m gonna go outside and let it run at idle for awhile to see if it will overheat. my coolant level is right where its supposed to be. im getting ready to take my motor out for a rebuild this winter. i just want to get this overheating problem corrected first.

Check.

You could easily have a blown fuse or two and the fans aren't coming on. That would be easy to check. If you've put a new waterpump/radiator in, chances are you could have air pockets in there, or the waterpump could not be working, or the radiator has a blockage...

Did you buy all of these things to fix the overheating, or were these done prior to, and could be causing, this problem?

After the car runs and cools down, open the radiator and check the coolant level.

Did you put the thermostat in backwards?

How exactly does one accomplish that in an LS1, where the 'stat is part of the neck housing?

^Very good point.

I'm at work and have too much other **** on my mind.

I was just thinking overheating+thermostat=possible backward.

I was wrong.

Thats why I was asking if you were loosing coolant.

If you had a blown head gasket you would be loosing coolant.

Does the car smoke at all?

i noticed a little smoke under the hood but thats about it. nothing coming from exhaust. check engine light is on so i took it to the shop and the guy told a coolant sensor is out but im thinking that cant be it.
