there duals or beehives, which ones u got? duals will need there retainers, but stock locks will work fine, upgrade locks is very cheap. i recommend it. there beehives work with stock retainers and locks too.

Unless you got the Crane Beehive springs, you will need new valve seals as well. Installation of the retainer for the duals will require the seals be removed to fit over the guides, new seals are about $30 from a GM vendor >>>>>> and will be one less thing to worry about after the job is done.

Which kit did you get and what does it contain? I would get the machined locks from Crane too if you have a complete kit. Only about $35.

for a 2000 year head, he should be fine bob. usually locators and new seals aren't needed untill u use a '03 and newer ls1 head.

in looking at his list of mods, this looks to be replacing stock springs. his title says dual springs. if all you got was just the springs, then you'll need the matching retainers and seat locators. to change the seat locators, you will need to replace the valve seals as well.

I think he needs to remove seals to install the dual retainers, at that point I wouldn't re-use as they might be damaged during removal.

Can you post exactly what you have, it sure sounds like you are missing parts but can't tell from your original post.

I thought the Crane dual retainer had a locator for the inner spring on them.

a 2000yr head is a locator, and seperate seal set up. it is not an integeral seat/seal combo like '03+, so it allows inner spring to fit over seal, and o.d. of the spring fits in the hardend factory locator perfect, and install heights will come in between 1.790-1.812.

so, according to you, the factory locator for a single spring will be able to locate the inner spring of a crane dual spring.

then why is it that vinci sells the spring locator for the dual springs when they sell it as a kit. retainers, springs, and seat locators? these locators are alot thinner in the middle to locate the inner spring.
