383:all-bore @8k rpm. cam/valvetrain thoughts?
Katech's value 427 package with a crank change to drop back to 383ci sounds like a great way to get a reliable bottom end for 8k rpm and yet still get a decent torque boost over stock cubes for docile driving....
Yes, more cubes are better for making power on an ls1 than revving the hell out of it. Humor me - I happen to think these things revving to the moon is pure sex....
This would be an LS2 block with LS7 heads...
So - how would you guys cam up something like this? Grand-Am or some kind of custom? I want the lift to stay solidly under .6 for longevity/stability. Yes, the car will stay hydraulics. I believe with lightweight valves and retainers along with quality lifters, rockers, etc - going solid roller isn't necessary for a street engine. It will only occasionally see those rpms. The goal also is to incorporate some kind of itb setup to satisfy airflow needs better than the normal manifolds can.
I'd appreciate any constructive feedback...
Thanks!

I dont know what youre putting behind it but I doubt that a 8k capable 383 will drive very docile.
If I were you I'd take a look at comp's new line of solid rollers designed specifically for the street. 3 offered from 235/240 up to the big boy 251/256 .660/.655. (You'll need an elephant dick to make power at 8k on a 383 IMO)
