Re: Still have ticking noise after new lifters.....
Chino man- Try adding the Lucas Oil additive. I did and my tick has gone away, I think its just covering up the problem though. It might help narrow down the possibilities. I think mine has to do with my oil pump O-ring. I'll change it out in August when I have time to put in a ported oil pump. I'm going for tuning tomorrow so the car should see 6600 rpm a couple times. We'll see if it falls apart or not, I'm reeeeaaallly hoping not!!

Nothing but Havoline 5-W30 since day 1 for me. If you are going to bump the limiter a little Tom, goahead and use 10-w30 better safe than sorry. I am headed to mikes next week or the week after to get my speedo fixed and a code pulled (AIR Tube header code), finally got the rear end squared away today . Try and give me a ring sometime this weekend man!

I have a ticking noise too. It happens rite after start up and after driving for a little while it fades away. I took it to the dealership and first they said "It's the injectors and its normal" then on a separate occasion, they said "Oh that's normal it's the lifters."
C'mon guys, if you're gonna lie, atleast get your stories straight.

Chino- I just picked mine up at Advanced Auto parts.
THE CAR STAYED TOGETHER ON THE DYNO!!
It pulled 392 rwhp 376 rwtq on a "conservative" dyno. I'm sure a few of these guys know the dyno Mike uses is a bit on the low side.
Anyway, on the last dyno run Mike said he saw the oil pressure dip, then jump back up. After seeing that he thinks its the Oil pump O-ring too. I'm going to buy a Ported unit and address the O-ring problem then, kill 2 birds with one stone kinda. I wish I didn't skimp on this stuff the first time around, live and learn.

Re: Still have ticking noise after new lifters.....
Intresting to note that the factory manual says that after pushing the o-ring onto the tube, carefully push the tube in completely by hand, then tighten the bolt to 109 In. Lbs. Do not push the tube up into the pump by means of tighting the nut!
The factory manual, go figure.

Dalemx- I don't quite understand, how does it say to attach the pick up tube to the oil pump? I'm a little confused.

Did the Lucas oil additive help or solve your Problem? I Definitely put my O-ring on using the wrong method when I installed it about 6500 miles ago. I have never had an oil pressure problem but I have this annoying ticking that comes and goes. Just wondering if this is what you guys have experienced and if the Lucas Oil Additive helped?

dude,i hade a ticking noise and tried everything like you. well...i just got my new agostino racing block and they told me my ticking noise came from a broken piston.my car never lost power and still knocked off 11.9's with the tick. i hope you dont have this problem but it's possable. goodluck.

As far as the Lucas Oil Stabilizer goes...
I have been using about 1/2 a quart of it every oil change since about 1500 miles. I have great results with it in my 13 year old beater car, everything get quiet! With the Camaro, It is hard to tell because the car is new, but so far I seem to have no problems. I began using it in the Camaro to help reduce start-up wear. 1/2 quart Lucas + 5 quarts Castrol 5w30 Full Synthetic = No Problem!

Re: Still have ticking noise after new lifters.....
To me it sounds like a slight rod knock, if it happens only after the oil gets hot and when you rev the engine from 2500-3500 range when you rev or accelerate then you may be wiping out one of the rod bearings. But if it ticks and continues at idle then it probably valve train related
