Re: more than 1/4mile cam
Well I have the GM ASA cam. It was desinged for roadracing so it definatly works after the 1/4. But I think all the cams will work great you posted as gears are a bigger factor in speeds after the 1/4 and you have to go pretty steep to really affect top speed.

Re: more than 1/4mile cam
I ordered the TR224 114 and I plan to go to the Bonneville Salt Flats for some land-speed racing on a 2 mile course. I don't think your motor will even notice you just passed a 1/4 mile, you'll just shift to 5th gear and keep going. It will probably be more important to worry about the cooling system, since a quarter mile is over so quick it really doesn't matter for drag racing.

Re: more than 1/4mile cam
Lumina,
1/4 mile and above?...like long runs at high speed?
Have a chat with the boys on WWW.LS1.COM.AU. (can't remember if you are a current member or not).
We are all LS1 Commodore owners and some of the 'spanner twirlers' might also help you out with cam and selection. Interested to see you fitted U.S. exhaust components to your car. There are some very very nice twin 2.5" systems available for your exact car in Australia along with headers that will fit like a glove.
Might see ya there soon.

Re: more than 1/4mile cam
thanks 2001CamaroGuy
i was thinking of a a more agresseve cam since i will be running a longer distance 1/2 mile and more
but since in the states you guys never run more than the 1/4 no one can help me
i'm thinking of getting something with more lift since i'm gonna be in the high rpm range most of the time
guys tell me why i'm wrong

Half mile, quarter mile, I don't see the difference; either way you have one launch at 2500 rpm then after that you will be at high rpm anyway if you are geared right for the cam you are using. The decision to go bigger comes down to driveability and the upper limit of rpm that you can turn. A TR224 will get you as high as a stock low end can handle and higher.
