Default Beehive valvesprings, any good?

I was wondering what kind of performance gain you can get out of beehive valvesprings? if they are about the same seat pressure what kind of performance gain could be expected? They allow higher RPMs without valvefloat, does that put the powerband higher?

I found a set of PSI Endurance beehive springs with retainers on EBAY for about $100
Check em out:

THANKS!

Are the PSI Endurance springs/retainers on Ebay any different than stock springs?

these are the specs for the PSI springs

Endurance Spring: Single- Beehive LS1 & LS6 (O.D.: 1.290") (I.D. Outer: .630") (I.D. Middle: N/A) (I.D. Inner: N/A) (Seat Pressure: 120lbs.@1.800") (Open Pressure: 360lbs.@1.175") (Rate Lb./In.: 384) (Retainer Step: .000") (Max Lift: .625") (Coil Bind: 1.100")

I don't have a clue what the stock spring specs are, but i read that the PSI springs are good over 7000rpm.

The PSI springs that are for sale are excellent springs. However, since they are used I would consider it a dice roll. You just never know and used springs are something I personally avoid. In this case, the seller bought them used as well so I think it is a case of buyer beware. As far as the springs themselves, they are excellent. I have them on my car and we just installed a set on a friends car in September.

If it is just to put on a stock cam motor:
1- there will be no performance gain (unless your OEM springs are toast)
2- I would get the LS6/LS2 springs for as low as $60 in some cases.

IMO never buy used springs unless it is your last choice

Those are good beehives, but like others have said. Don't buy used springs. All it takes is dropping one on the floor to cause a failure once installed. You don't know their exact history, so it's not worth the risk.

Another good choice would be a set of new PAC springs, either a set of the1218s or 1518s. But while you're there change out your pushrods. They may be a weaker link than your stock springs.

i doubt that dropping a spring on a floor could cause damage, considering the abuse at high rpms. i agree about used srpings, the only way to know they are good is to test them for seat and open pressure i guess.

I'm not trying to be a dick... but it can.

Any springs that hits the floor should be scrapped.
