Default Best valve spring tool?

The heads are off the car.....What is the best tool to compress the valve springs to put them on. I already tried one tool and it didnt work to well.....any suggestions???

Another vote for Crane tool. Buy from Vinci for best price>>>>>>>>>>

Don't use this type, you will damage your springs.

Any tool that compresses the spring by pushing down the retainer is fine.

i really liked the shaft mounted tool that compressed 2 springs at once, not sure if it was a comp or crane tool. def not the one in the pic though

Here's the reason. Most performance springs have a surface treatment to induce a compressive stress on the surface to lengthen spring life. If you use one of those tools and scratch up the surface, you defeat the purpose of the surface treatment. I have used a tool like that in the past on an old Nissan (it is now a paperweight in the took chest) and it kept slipping off and marked up the springs pretty good. What ever tool you get, make sure it presses on the retainer itself and doesn't physically contact the spring surface.
