Default Crane spring tool???

I just got the crane valve spring tool but it appears to be wrong. When the cup for the valve cover boss is in position the rocker bolt holes are only about half visable. I double checked the box and it is says its the LS1 tool. What does the small block tool look like.?Could it have been misboxed or are others having this issue too. BTW I have 243 heads

See post #10. I have used the plate both ways since some retainers fit differently in the plate.

I have actually used it both ways, with it down it works better on certain retainers than up.
