Default will ls6 heads fit on an ls1? what about z06 heads?

I want to know if ls6 heads will fit on a 2000 ls1? Will z06 (not the 427)?
Is it worth doing and what is the difference?

LS6 heads are "ZO6" heads ('01-'04)

And yes, they are much better heads.

are you planning on getting them ported?? If not you might as well since they will already be off the car and you will gain more power

Default tHERE BETTER

They Are Better But Just Stock About 15 Hp , But I Would Have Them Ported If You Have Them Off. Plane Ls6 Heads Used 350 To 500 That Is What I Have Seen Them Go For.

Ya if you get a set of ported heads LS6 (Z06) you will gain about 50hp... They will bolt right up.

Medic/Z28,
I like the combo you have chosen. What kind of numbers did you put down when it was tuned? What has it run at the track? I assume you are running 243's with non-sodium filled valves/hollow valve stems?

Thanks.

vtirocz, It put down 391 rwhp and 389 rwtq. I haven't gone to the track yet. Heads are stock 243s with the zo6 or LS6 springs. Stock valves and harden psuhrods. Thanks

Ok first the engine is in a 67 A body Pontiac Tempest convertible. It has headers and dual exhaust. The motor and A4 transmission came out of a 2000 SS camaro, Ls6 intake, throttle body ported, custom ram air, stock internals except for the cam which is a 222/226 on 110.5 lsa with .579 lift on the intake and a little more on the exhaust if I remember, the springs are Comp 918s, shortened pushrods (hardened), HP tuned, 3800ss stall (lockup), the rear end I am swapping in a 9" with 4.11 gears and a locker (my kid broke the 8.2" 10 bolt this past Sunday) It is a fair weather weekend car that may occasionally go to a 1/8 mile drag strip if I ever get wheels and tires (I will). When I change heads I was going to consider a new larger cam.
