Default TR230 clearance!! Need Help!!!

Ok, took my car to the shop today to have my cam installed. Here is my question, the guy who was installing it said that he thought there might be some issues with the piston/valce clearance. The cam is a TR230/236 with a 111+2 lsa. I am not sure what the lift is on the cam. What scares me is the cam was spec'd for a car with 2.5tsp heads. Does this make a difference as compared with my stock heads? Oh ya, and if you need to know, I have 7.45 pushrods. Please help me with this, I cant find anything out cause everything is closed till Monday. Its killing me!!

Thanks,
Ryan

If youu are running stock heads and stock head gaskets I would expect it to clear without any problem. Of course when in doubt, check it. Hopefully whoever you have doing the install is aware of how to do that. there are at least a half dozen preffered methods and they all vary.

^^ I will definately post some results if everything works out ok! I just checked the lift on the cam and it is more than the stock 230. It is 612"/607", hopefully that will help someone out!

lift doesn't really matter when checking PTV.

if you are running stock heads with stock gaskets you will be fine.

what rocker ratio are you running? 1.8:1 ratios don't mix well with aftermarket cams

From the research I have done, it should fit fine. But, it never hurts to check.

stock heads and stock rockers should be no problem call Thunder if you was piece of mind.

There are quite a few larger cams that would create more of a PTV problem, I say no problemo here

My best bud runs a ESP1 (Eastside Perf prototype) which is a 230/236 .550/.550 @ 112 (dunno the adv.) and on a stock head had no issues, made one of the best cam only with mild bolt on power everseen.

On stock heads/valves and gasket you should be fine. You should also have it checked though.

It will clear fine as a cam only application. Just make sure the cam is installed at that LSA/ICL. Meaning degree the puppy

I would suspect it to be close. IIRC, someone out my way just did a Torquer v.2 with ported 5.3 heads and it cleared. But, you'll definitely need to check. Also, make sure your mechanic checks the preload on your lifters. Those pushrods may be a bit long.

I don't know why you just don't measure it, that way in the future when considering heads you have a basis to make decisions. It would only take about 30 minutes to get the numbers.
