Heads starting point 5.3 or LS1
hey all I wanted to know what would be a better idea for heads. Taking a set of 5.3 heads and having 2.0 intake valves put in them or taking ls1 heads and having them milled down for smaller chambers. My car will have to pass emissions so I unforunatly don't think I will be running anything bigger an a 224 cam.

The only reason I am asking this is I can get the heads from my short block for about $40 with no shipping, but these heads won't get ported. So I am just wondering how well 2.0 intake valves will work in 5.3 heads if they aren't ported.

I went with a set of worked over 5.3 heads on my set-up.
I love the way the car runs. The heads are port/polished & milled .018" by Bo White, assembled with Patriot duals by Gunnar & stock rockers. Running 7.400" chromemoly pushrods with FelPro stock LS1 replacement headgaskets from Autozone. Cam is a 224/224 .581/.581 114.
Haven't had a single issue & the car is still untuned. Gas mileage stayed the same but my compression is up to about 10.9-11.0:1 on pump gas. Starts & idles at the stock position every time.
