Default Cold / Idle Knock

Hey guys, I'm a fairly new owner of an 02 T/A A4. have not yet done any mods to it, but recently i've noticed a knock coming from the engine, moreso on the passengers side.

I've read through the forums here and have determined it to possibly be piston slap.

The only time this knock or tick or whatever, can be heard is when its first started up, whether hot or cold. It will only do it at idle - if I rev the engine just a tad, like to 1500 or so, it goes away, goes back to idle, 15 20 seconds later the noise is back.

I hate to make a post on what many have already posted on, but I've really never heard this type of noise before, usually if its a rod or anything else, it does it all the time, right? or is that more old school.

Anywho, the help would be comforting and appreciated

JJ

Yep, it's pretty typical of the LS1 and nothing to worry about, though at first it may be disconcerting, and continue to be annoying.

I appreciate it... come to think of it... it just started doing it as it has gotten colder out...

Thanks for the reply!

Thats the way mine started. It hasn't done it in a while though.
