The black soot and the statement that your plugs were wet with fuel indicates that your AFR is running "pig rich." The term "fouled" usually implies oil fouling, meaning that the electrodes and insulator are coverred with oil. This condition typically occurs due to an engine that needs to be rebuilt (or at least have the cylinders honed/deglazed and re-ringed) or the valve stem seals are leaking and need to be replaced or the PVC valve is stuck in the open position and the engine is sucking in a lot of oil through the intake manifold.

1. Have you stuck in bigger injectors or has someone done some tuning on your car?
2. Do you know what the AFR is running at part throttle and at WOT?

The plugs that Spazman is showing in his first post look about right. The insulators should look like they have a coffee stained appearance.

1. Yes, I went to 42# injectors after my heads/cam swap.
2. No, I have not been able to even run the car since the heads/cam swap..

Here is what happened..

I finished the heads/cam swap and started it up and let it idle for about 10 minutes.. I then took it for a drive down the road and back and it was running pretty rough.. I was getting misfires of 1, 4, 6 and 8.. I got on here and everyone said that was pretty normal from the cam/heads swap..

I am going to have a guy come to my house to tune the car, but he is in China until the 16th.. I needed to get the car up and running so I could get the exhaust "fixed" so that Scott could tune it..

Soooo.. I sent my PCM to Jesse at Wait4Me to get it tuned well enough to be able to get from A to B so I could get the exhaust work done..

Well, I got my PCM back day before yesterday, plugged it in yesterday and tried to start the car.. I got some hellacious back fires and stopped.. Remembered that in the tune Jesse was doing for me, the 42# injectors were included and I had not installed them...

Sooo.. I pulled the stock 26#'ers and threw in the 42#'ers..

Attempted to start the car and nada.. It would hit every now and then but never attempted to RUN on it's own..

That is where I sit today.. I have pulled all 8 plugs and they all look like this, with wet fuel on them..

Can I clean them or should I just order new plugs?

Thanks guys..

Jeff

Jeff,
I'm glad that you got the car running again. Make sure that the guy that tunes your car uses an AFR meter and tunes for both part throttle and wide open throttle.
