Default My experience/opinion about my cam install

Well this last weekend my buddy/mechanic installed a cam/springs/pushrods/shorty headers on my 99 z28. When I first got the car back from him, the car sounded amazing, but it felt sluggish and slow. I was confused, but then I saw the annoying blinking SES light and knew something was wrong. I scanned the car at my house and got P0306, which is a misfire on cyl 6. I then went into my garage, popped my hood, and found cyl 6 spark plug wire burnt onto the header! Oops! haha. Replaced that and now the car feels GREAT! Anyone that is thinking about installing a cam, DO IT!! Car feels a lot faster...

ya cams are a great way to get some power out of a ls1. It just seems like people are all trying to get the biggest donkey dick cam out there, and then they complain why it doesn't drive very well.

You made a good choice for a DD/street car. It should have great power under the curve.

Yea that's what I'm doing, I don't want a big cam and I def don't wanna spin past 6500, even that's kinda pushing it. I don't wanna change rod bolts... So I went with a small comp cams 220/224 .530/.534 might get 1.8 rollers to get a little more lift too. Gonna be using LS6 valve springs. Just waiting on the rest of the other parts, so after the holidays it's going in!!! I can't wait!!!!

Nice numbers for that cam setup! Long tubes will open it up quite a bit more as well.

I know that, but I am in Ca and this car will make great power while staying inside all the strict smog laws here

Did you post on the dyno section, if not can you post the dyno sheet? Those are some good results from such a mild cam. Good to know you are happy with the results.
