Default Cam at 130k mi

I have a 00 WS6 6spd with 130k mi, Basically stock with a Lid and K&N
A friend has a cam lying around that he took out of his car, along with springs and rods to go with it.
He offered to put it in my car for basically nothing, All I would pay for would be the dyno tune after the install.

Its a custom comp cam, heres the specs.

238/240 Duration
605/609 Lift
112 LSA

What do yall think? My motor is strong and it seems to have a lot of miles left in it, but the high milelage worries me. I know it would be best to get full exhaust to see the most benefit from the cam, that will probably come soon after.

I think you should at least replace the timing chain, oil pump(ls6 pump) and get new gaskets.
I have high miles as well and i'm doing a swap soon

I agree with BayAreaSS on replacing those parts if you decide to do it.

That cam is a big jump for you in my opinion, especially on stock heads, stock exhaust manifolds, stock cat back (not LS6 intake on 00 either, right? I forget...). If I was you I would go with a smaller cam and do the standard 'bolt on' mods first.

If you replace the cam at 130k I would replace the lifters as well. To replace the lifters you have to take off the heads. While the heads are off you might as well get new heads, etc, etc. It's a slippery slope.

Supporting bolt ons as in oil pump, Timing chain, headers, Y Pipe, and what else?

It seems its gonna cost more than expected, and considering this is my daily driver I should probably leave it alone until im committed to spending some money on doing it right...

I really have been wanting a C5, so maybe Ill just hold off on this

It just sux to see a Cam Package like this go to waste, especially when I have someone offering to install and give it to me for free.
Just so tempting

Install it but make sure that you do the supporing bolt ons soon after bc if you just do it and nothing else you might not even feel to much of a difference.

IMO go with something smaller. But thats just me.
