You just put in a 'cam? Did you get it tuned? If you didn't, maybe that's why the car's running so badly...

whats the milage look like? there are cars on here with over 150K on the clock still getting well over 300rwhp stock. If it's not tuned with a cam it can run like poo. try doing a complete tune up too.

it has 93k... but my dad told me when we were buying it that the guy had cut the wires from the odometer, cause when we test drove it the mileage wouldnt show we got back and my dad mentioned it and the guy said it was a fuse, he replaced the fuse right in front of me and it read 71k but we didnt drive it again till i actually bought it a week later so i dont know if thats the real mileage it could have 200k who knows

Yeah, I hear you on this why pay $400.00 for a tune that could be the issue when you can spend way more than that doing a rebuild.

To find the health status on your motor you should do 2 things:

1- Compression test
2- A leakdown test.

The result of these 2 will give you a pretty good idea where you stand.

I would tune it anyways, because after the rebuilt (if you do one) the tune will still be good and can be adjusted for free or just some dyno time.
always tune your motor, you could be ruining it as we speak.

you are going to have to have the car tuned NO MATTER WHAT

LOLOLOLOL you cant just install heads, cam, or other big mods and expect the stock pcm to provide adequate fuel... can you?

when I had mine done i used all stock parts:
crank
pistons
bolts
gaskets
lifters
oil pump
LS6 oil pan
bearings
rings

machine work:
milled heads
valve job
cross hatched bores
line hone block
$2,688
I got screwed by a family friend on the rebuild though should have been around $1,800

Take Predator's advice and do some simple tests - also do all the routine maintenance you can think of....plugs, wires, fuel filter, run a can of top end cleaner through the engine (search for info on that one). Throwing money at the problem is not always the best thing to do.

If it ain't smokin or knockin it can be fixed easy.....unless you're going for a power adder you don't need a rebuild.

Plugs could have oil from bad valve seals. Listen to advice.
1st do the tests I mentionned, then make a decision how to proceed.

yep definitely do a compression test and i believe compression should be 175psi on all cylinders. Ofcourse that is when they are new so dont actually expect a 100k mile motor to produce those numbers. I say if you have 155-170 your fine .

cut wires from the Odometer? Is it a six speed? Check the speed sensor on top the tranny (feel up there and make sure everything is plugged in!) I heard that from a friend anyway....

if it really was the fuse the computer would still log the miles

The plugs look ok but, they're old so you should replace them . Your valve covers gasket may be leaking down to your spark plugs .Replace your wires too.
