Default 906 casting number what are they...

I have a LS based motor and the number on the heads are 906 can anybody help me find out what they are..

Are you sure it's LS based? The 906 casting is the old small block chevy Vortec head. Are the heads aluminum or cast iron?

You sure it's not 806? Those came on 97-98 ls1's.

806- 97-98 ls1
853- 99-00 ls1
241- 01-02 ls1
243- ls6
317- 6.0

I've owned a set of all but the 806s now.

906 was the last three digits of B and RB Mopar big Block heads from '68 on till they were replaced by 452's which were essentially the same except for induction hardened seats(for unleaded gas)from '73 and up. They were all open chamber w/ 2.08-1.74 valves. Contrary to popular belief, "Six Pack" and "Magnum" engines shared these same heads with all other big blocks in the Mopar family of that time.
