Default sorry to see

I just installed that exact cam straight up as you did, everything went well for me, you might double check your springs, ret. and locks. That sucks, I feel for you. I hope you get it up and runnin' soon, good luck!!!

Sounds like you got a great outllok on it man. Every F' up is just an opportunity. If My H/C install goes like that though I'll be driving the pick-up for a while. Better luck on your new build!

Still don't understand how that happened with a 224?????

I ran the same cam with 1.75 pro mag's and 59cc afr's and had .100/.135 ptvc well mine was on a 114 but can't see it hitting. must have been off a dot.

You should not even have to flycut with a 224. even with a .040 gasket

What kind of chain and gears do you have? had to have been put in wrong or had a spring break.

Maybe there should be one more option in the poll for poppen a hole in your'e piston with a 224 cam

Looked at the pics one more time. You can see all the intake's hit. they are shined up at the top.

that cam was def installed wrong. even on a 112 prob still on a 110 ICL so the only thing would be tighter from a 114 would be ex and i had .135 ex with 59cc afr's

always ck everything-always (did i mention always) to error is human
before you pull it comp apart, see where things went wrong, if the cam gears matched up, correct dots, how much lifter preload, spring tension, etc-it would be good to find out what exactly happened, esp if others ran the same setup without a prop.-no shame in a mistake, i make them all the time, i just dont learn from mine-lol

You lined the cam up wrong. I did this once before a long time ago on accident (worked a 12 hr shift then came home trying to build motors at 4am), and did the same exact thing. If you lined it up "dot to dot", there is no way that would have happened with a 224 cam. You could mill your heads .065 and it still wouldn't do that with a 224 cam if installed correctly.

Would definately have the block checked out by a machine shop that knows LS1's specifically.

The max bore for stock LS1 block is 3.905. That gives .007 to clear the scratch, and that's not much(only .0035 per side). And that first ebay link says the piston rod combo is for a 4" stroke(Stock is 3.622). I would start by letting your machinist look at the block. If he says it's no good you will be better off buying a new forged short block.
