Default MS4 with stock LS6 heads? work ok?

ok guys i'm going with the MS4 cam w/111 LSA and have searched alot with mixed views on it. i know the real potential in them is past 6500 RPM's and when i started out i was originall gonna only turn it to about 6400. well i also wasn't planning on flycutting but the more i read the more i feel it may be best just in case i decided to turn it up a bit. Well i figure if i'm gonna flycut i may as well throw in some ARP rodbolts and turn the bitch to say 7000 R's I know stock LS6's probably aren't the best head for this cam but it's kinda in line with the amount i wanted to spend on this budget build. What i want to really know is will the stock Z06 243 cast heads and Z06 valves have the same clearance as the 241 LS1 heads with the same gasket thicknesses? i've done lots of research to find my answer but no luck when it comes to stock Z06 heads. Maybe it's my wording i used in the search, who knows I went with stock size 7.4" TR pushrods, PRC double springs rated for what TSP says is .660 lift, and the heads have some polish work done on them and are otherwise stock Z06 heads and valves. Also if i flycut should i have the heads milled, how much and what thickness gaskets should i go with? Lots of questions and trust me i have searched but the big question i had was in regards to the Z06 heads and MS4 compatibility. Thanks so much in advance.~Cole~

oh and if anybody knows where to rent a flycutting kit please let me know along with what size grinder the eyebrows need to be cut with Maybe it's best not to turn it up to 7k as i fear wrecking the bottom end, but i'd like to flycut to allow me to run the lower gasket and highten compression. That coupled with ARP rod bolts and i should be safe running up to 6600 and higher compression~Cole~

If you look at TSP's stage 1 PRC LS6 heads, they will tell you that they work great with the MS4.. So if your flycutting i would say you can mill them quite a bit before you run into any problems .

if your going to flycut you might as well get there stg 2.5 ls6's but other than that you dont have to flycut with stock ls6 heads or even stg 1's

well ive read a few threads about how with the ms4/ls6 heads its still safe practice to flycut becasue everything is so close but tsp themselves says it will be fine but i think as long as you install it all right the first time and keep it at the specs for the valves for a stg 1 and what not you should be fine. but tsp did tell me that they didnt rec. this setup as a dd but i know people who have. so its really up to you

Bottom line, measure PTVC with such a big cam, also degree it if you can to ensure it is installed at said LSA/ICL.

Based on that info make your decision, flycut or not.
Personaly anything less than .070 is getting risky and less than .060 should flycut.
Bottom line YOU decide.

thanks again guys, i knew Predator would chime in i've seen the name in ALOT of posts about this I may flycut for my own insurance though and i will for sure measure. i just wanted some other input and reassurance i guess i'm a little weary of all this as it's my first real cam swap on my own vehicle. Jason at TSP got ahold of me to clear up some questions i had. he emailed me back within 15 minutes so i really appreciated that. Thanks again guys. more input and experience stories is appreciated~Cole~

LG motorsports will rent out flycutting equipment, just call and tell them what you need and they will hook you up
