Default Rolon timing chain

Just received my JP Performance single chain timing set. Comes with a Torrington bearing, which is a great feature. It also has the Rolon timing chain, which according to the JP web site, is as strong as the JWIS. I did some searching, found a lot of trash talking about the Rolon timing chain, but not a single problem/failure. I did find a couple of cases where the JWIS had broke however. Has anyone had a problem with a Rolon timing chain? Just trying to figure out why it is so maligned.

From what I understand the rolon's are made in India and that's why nobody likes them.

I've been looking at the LS2, Katech, Cloyes True Single Roller, and this Rolon looks like a good option, but I can't find it on JP Performance's or SDPC's page. Where did you get yours? This is a single roller chain, right?

It's an N-Motion chain. JP Performance out of Australia private labels them for us...unless they forget to LABEL them, and then instead of paying all that freight to fix it we ship them as is with their label.

I bought mine from AFR, but there are some vendors that carry it. The Torrington bearing is a great feature, the cam plate sees a lot of wear due to oiling issues (beware if you buy a cam plate, see my other thread on the new GM part numbers). Vinci has some information on cam plate wear on their web site. I also spoke with Tony Mamo at AFR and he told me his cam plate from his first LS1, which was featured in the magazines, had a lot of wear as well when he pulled the motor apart. The Torrington bearing should help alleviate this wear.

I kind of find this amusing. Everyone is trashing the Rolon but I did a search and the N-Motion gets a thumbs up and its the same chain.

That's just further proof that you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet They are still good chains! I've talked to handfuls of people in the past year who have literally torn apart Jwis chains, Rolon chains, and others....in most cases, if one could investigate it further, the chain was not really to blame but some other component or install error.

Thanks Matt and Vettenuts, you can't tell the players without a program anymore. I'll check out this N-Motion chain.
