Default Melling oil pump

Ok, ive done the search and from what i have read, there is supposed to be 2 springs that come with the pump. I ordered the 295 version (standard volume). I ordered it from SDPC and they said that this was the high pressure version. So, does this one not come with the other (blue) spring?? Just curious.

Melling #10295 pumps is a std. volume/High pressure pump which comes with the red spring installed in it. I don't remember if it comes with the Std. pressure BLUE spring or not. PM me if you need one or call Melling, I think I got some laying around.

Mine came with the blue spring too, but why bother? I talked with the shop manager at Thunder Racing, and he said there is no such thing as too much pressure (too a point). The horsepower loss is negligible....

THe car now idles with about 55psi. I have not had it dynoed with new cam and more boost, so not sure what it is at WOT...

I'm pretty sure the 295 is just the stock replacement pump and does not have an additional optional spring included with it. The 296 is the high flow pump and does have both springs. I used the blue one in mine and have had no problems. Not sure how much truth there is to the following post, but as long as you have 10psi per 1000 RPM you are fine.

I also didn't want the oil pump to suck the pan dry before all the oil could return- again, don't know if that would have happened or not with the red spring- probably not, but I'm paranoid and used the blue spring.
