Looks good. Do you have anyway of controlling the cut?
Pictures are a little large.

I would suggest that you make the cutting tips more of a radius as opposed to a 90 degree cut.

The bottom of the radial clearance area of the valve relief. Take a look at the thread on the Lindy Tool IHPC, it cuts a very nice radius instead of a sharp 90 degree corner. The Isky cutters cut the same sharp corner in this area also.

How much radial clearance do these cutters provide?

Concerning the photo's, if you use the macro function on the camera you will get the close up pictures your looking for.

Ok . i can make that a radius. I though about it that a sharp corner may not be the best. but the radius can't really be much bigger than what is on the valve. maybe a .040 or so

As far as radial clearance i can make them to any size needed. the one in the pic is a 2.040 valve and cut's a 2.08 releif. that will give .040 a side witch i think is plenty.

My valves are 2.02 and 1.6 with 8mm stem. What size do you recommend as cutter size cut? I think .040 should be enought.

Radial clearance should be .050 MINIMUM.

No offense but that tool looks a little sketchy. Why not just buy the Isky cutting tools. They cost $100 for each cutting head and $35 for the shaft. And are made very well.

Not saying yours don't work well, it just looks like it would be risky. It could chip something or leave a rough or uneven cut.

I think it could also use more cutting blades on the head of it. The Isky cutters have a lot of blades on it.

Very creative for trying it though!!!

You are right. I had to add 4 more cutters because it chatterd too much.

I just can not give up. i have all my piston's done. I just would like to see a set for 90 bucks or so. you only use it once. or make a set and rent them for a low price. i will have more pics soon.

the lindy is say 100 buck's plus. i had $30 into a valve and 10 minutes before work welding and 1 lunch hr (30 minutes) into this tool. once i make the fixture i can machine it in less than 10 minute's. The fist one cut nice but the next will be sweet and still be cheap as hell.

I'm not really sure what the other tools are comprised of, but if you were to sell them, the people buying them would need two which would be 90 bucks. So for ten dollars more they could have a proven tool? A good idea either way.

I think it would be $235 for the other tool.
