LS6 Cam Timing For Truck
I am putting a LS1 in a P/U but I am installing a LS6 cam first, I would like to keep my torque down as low as possible and don't need to turn over 6,200 rpm's. I have the new SDPC timing set with the adjustable position crank gear, do I need to set it on 0 or advance the cam timing to better suit a heavy vechicle?

Re: LS6 Cam Timing For Truck
You would want to advance the cam to move its powerband lower in the rpm range. Post this in the Truck Performance section. They will let you know everything - some smart guys there...
Sounds like that truck should be pretty sweet! Needed more than the 4.8L could give huh?

Re: LS6 Cam Timing For Truck
Which LS6 cam, 01 or 02+. I had the 01 in my 99 silverado. I think it is 2 degrees retarded in stock form, so I would advance it from 2 to 4 degrees. I think I'd do the same thing to the 02+ cam as well. My 01 cam was still making power past 6200.
