Default Spun a bearing

Ok, I spun a bearing. What can I do to my stock LS1 to get it back on the road for $1-2K?
Or
For a little less than $1K I can get a complete 6.0L truck block w/ 60K on it from a salvage yard.

What should I do?

Thanx

forged pistons, forged h-beam rods, factory crank. With machining if you do it yourself the shortblock will cost less than 2k. Slap a cam in in and be done with it for a little bit.

well its hard to say man with what it will take to put the 6.0 in your truck might be over 2 grand. If you can pull the motor yourself and all you have to do is replace the berrings and get the crank redone I'd go that way.
NOt an easy decision for me I have way too much money in my ls1 to throw it away I'd fix it and probly build it up more.

i have only spent $1600 on my parts so far for my shortblock ls1 build but I also spent money on a bunch of studs and stuff for the heads and mains. If you use factory style bolts you can put forged pistons in it now for really cheap and if your going to rebuild now would be the time to do that.

throw another $800 at it and get a tsp shortblock and keep your leftovers for parts or sell it outright...or you can buy a used shortblock/longblock and get it freshened up...

This sounds like the way to go. Whats a good "starter" set of pistons/rods/bearings?

As far as the cam goes; how much lift can you use w/o a converter?

What should I expect to pay for machining?

Thanx

You could basicly pick any cam you wanted it just will have some serging issues haha but not like it would be out of controll. But you will want to get one sooner than later along with a shift kit and trans cooler to help the slush box out.

im in the same perdiciment and im going the 6.0 way you can pic up a lq4 for less than 1500 bucks and all you stuff from you ls1 will interchange and when you get it back together and you got a bigger cubic in motor.
