Default Plug coolant pipes???

If I eliminate the coolant pipes in a LS6 to plug and by pass them, that won't do any harm? What is the purpose of those coolant pipes? sorry for this dumb question.

Default coolant pipes

If you are referring to the small diameter steel tubing on the intake face of the heads, they are vapor recovery lines. It is the way to get steam pockets out the the heads and recondensed back to liquid in the coolant recovery tank. Leave them alone.

I was told that LS1 brought the coolant pipe under the intake (from front to back of the engine), but later, for use with LS6 intakes, now a by pass in front and some plugs on back are used; so the old coolant pipe is removed. If this coolant pipes recover vapors from heads (in front and back of them) why now GM just plug the back part and by pass in front. This won't hurt in any way?

Default Vapor recovery tubes

Mike,

There is a patent issue with those tubes. Evans Cooling holds the patent on the original layout. GM may be trying to get around the patent with the change. Evans has sued GM over this.

If you have an LS1 it runs under the intake and all 4 are connected.
If you have an LS6 the fronts are connected and the rear two are plugged

In the case of an Ls1 you can plug the back two and just connect the fronts, but if you have an LS6 you should leave it the way it is

Exactly correct. I have the back two plugged on my '98 and have had zero issues with it.
