look into TSP, and you might go ahead and pick up some p'rods too. they're $110 and if you plan on revving it higher at all, those would be a great pick-up. the point is do as much as possible now so you dont have to later. if the old ones would bend under a small stock cam and light-pressure springs, imagine what can happen under high pressure and higher lift

whenever you change cam you need to replace lifters... from the factory the camshaft and lifters have a special coating on them and they both wear together.. if you put old lifters on a new cam usualy the lifters will get eaten up (not enough to notice all the time but it can turn out bad) same the other way around.. always replace in sets

you have to replace pushrods. Even if a shop tells you, you dont have to. The p'rods will bend I promise...I bent one of mine on a stock cam and valvetrain. The lifters I didnt replace on my head and cam package and it worked fine. so, you dont have to change the lifters but its added insurance. If you dont replace those pushrods be prepared to take the head off and go fishing in the lifter area for the second half of the pushrod...I had to. lol.

i wouldn't mess with the lifters if i wasn't doing a head swap....gotta look at "real cost" here...new head bolts OR ARP bolts/studs, head gaskets, added risk of damaging engine if you aren't qualified to remove/install heads, etc....
like stated above, you could get the lifters and everything, then just buy some ported heads when they pop up for sale and do it all at once.

I wouldn't do lifters now if you are planning on heads later. If you pull the heads you might as well get new ones. That is a lot of work just for lifters I did not do lifters on my cam install and everything was fine, I know someone who ran the MS3 for 30-40k with stock lifters. If you pull the heads get new ones.

Soooooo much wrong advice on this thread and a little good. Yes change lifters for cheap insurance with upgraded lifter trays too IF and only IF you are pulling heads but not necessary if heads are staying on at your miles. Yes for sure upgrade to chro-moly hardened pushrods FOR SURE. I would even look to another shop if they don't know any better than this. They obviously don't know much about LSx motors no matter what line of BS they give about working on them. WOW!!
