Default Can anyone help troubleshoot knock/ping?

I was on it today in 2nd gear, at about 4800 rpms
First of all, I can't distinguish between knock and ping, so I will describe the sound. I got what sounded like someone hitting a piece of metal with a hammer randomly. I believe this is knock, however I am not sure. Does anyone have any idea how to fix or correct this problem? I added fuel treatment, and it is still there. My mods are FIPK pretty much on the engine. I would guess that the engine leaned itself out, but I can't seem to find what would cause a lean condition with my few mods. This has never happened, and definitely never at WOT. Any suggestions would help, I do not believe my mods are the cause.

Thanks

Jason

If the car was knocking, you'd hear it at all RPMs, also, constant oil pressure fluxuation would be an issue.

Sometimes I do get a little fluctuation when I idle. But never while I am driving. This is just noticeable at WOT at higher RPMs though.

Do you have ported MAF ends? If so, swap them back and see if that cures it. High RPM pinging can be caused by them sometimes.

fill up with 93 octane, add some fuel injector cleaner, consider using a colder thermostate

...if this does not help, try a GM top cleaner or other carbon build-up cleaner...

..when pinging ocurs, the CPU shifts to a different set of fuel air mixtures....these are retained, until the gas tank is filled...
