Default at what milage should timing chain be changed?

I have 115K 98 TransAm the water pump went out and I though it would be a good time to check chain.

trust me, it's retarding your cam timing in the upper rpms by a few degrees I bet. I would change it.

just throw on an ls2 timing chain, its cheap and much stronger than stock. throw in a camshaft while youre at it
