Default What oil to use wiht LS1 75,000

hey guys I was debating this yesterday night with a friend I know that the Ls1 recomended is 5-30W however with 75,000 miles ...I was thinking of putting in some Lucas Syn 20-50W. What could be the recommended oil for this car?

Thanks

Dont put that thick of oil in cars, your doing more harm than good. Moble 1 10/30 or 10/40 synthetic would be your best bet. My car has 100k on it.

I use Mobil 1 15w-50, its at 71k miles now. Thats the oil that was recommended. Just let it warm up a little before running, the car loves the stuff.

From who Billy big rigger in his diesel truck? Last time I checked they run that in diesel engines.

They also run Rotella T in diesel engines, but for some reason its recommended for new engines. Interesting...

Wow everyone has a different opinion. I am getting my oil changed today and my SS has 70,000 miles on it as of yesterday. Going to get Mobile 1 10W30. Anything though that might quiet down the valvetrain noise from the cam?

I run valvoline 10w30 full synthetic. I switched oils from castrol a long time ago when I found that there are oils that don't break down as fast and last longer.

Royal Purple is great stuff and DID help with the sewing machine sound. I run different weights depending on the season but typically, 10W30

Cheers!

I secound the valvoline, I find that WHEN I CHANGE my oil that mobil 1 is like black and burnt For what ever reason, but when I use valvoline with a K/N oil filter the stuff comes out cleen. now you may have to go threw 3 oil changes to get that result but trust me I use it on all my cars now I. MY truck with 160,000 miles valvoline with a K/n the oil is cleen everytime I change it between 3 and 6,000 miles.

Not oil, but longer (7.425) pushrods will quiet down your valvetrain noise. I have a 214/218 high lift comp cam that made a lot of noise with the 7.4 push rods, and switched to the 7.425 rods and now is as quiet as stock.

M1 5w30 in everything for me too.
Camaro ~38K
Volvo ~163K
Chrysler ~90K
Honda lawn mower 5 seasons
Air compressor 1st season

Sometimes I even put it in my hair. It's great on cereal! You can fertilize your yard with it!
