I ran a 224/224-581 lift for 3 years with 26918 springs,200-250 runs and 15000 miles. When i pulled the heads off to go with the PRC 5.3 heads ,i checked all the springs and they were only down on pressure 10-15 lbs tops, which i would of expected, and seat pressure was only down 3-5 lbs.Not bad at all IMOP.I thought they would of been down a lot more, like 40-50 lb.

You could more than likely get by with them but I would buy the 921 for extra insurance with that much lift but the 918 if I remember right are good for 600 lift butt that is pushing it.

The 918s are made for cams like that. Double springs add a measure of insurance but also add extra pressure which you don't need unless you are running max RPM alot and add to wear and tear on lifters and cam.

Use the 918s according to the guidelines and you'll be fine.

The Comp XE-R lobes are too aggressive for 918 springs. This comes straight from Comp Cams. This of course, was true with past 918s. If the newer, improved 918s can do it, then Comp should update their info.
