Sounds like the crankcase ventelation system is not set up correctly, this can cause a buildup off fuel vapors in the crankcase and if there is enough slop in the bore the ignition of a cylinder can follow through to the crankcase & ignite the vapors there.

If a crankcase ignition occurred, wouldn't the dipstick also blowout?

I had too much crankcase pressure with the stock pcv running 12 lbs boost and would push the dipstick blowing oil everywhere.
