Re: Could header heat cause a sending unit to give bad readings? The sending unit is on the top of the motor so I doubt its the heat. Sounds like maybe the O-Ring is just barely pinched so the cool thick oil when you first start the car may still be thick enough to give you good pressure, but as it heats up it drops. It could also just be the pump itself.
Once my car is very hot, I have 25psi at idle, 40 at cruise, and 65 at redline. While the idle psi is lower than some, its still enough to be fine.
